What Is Biomass Energy?
Biomass energy is renewable power generated from organic materials—in our case, wood from sustainably managed Georgia forests. Unlike fossil fuels, biomass is part of the natural carbon cycle, making it truly renewable.

The Bubbling Bed Advantage
While we operate at 83-86% efficiency, most biomass plants only operate at 60-70%.
Our facility uses bubbling bed combustion technology—a 249-ton sand bed that "bubbles" with forced air to create optimal combustion conditions. As wood enters the system, the sand scrubs it until wood fibers are completely converted to ash. Just 1.4 tons of wood generates one megawatt of clean power.
Where Our Power Goes
We sell power directly to Georgia Power under a long-term PPA (Power Purchase Agreement), delivering 55 MW around the clock. We own and maintain the transmission infrastructure all the way to the Georgia Power substation, ensuring reliable delivery to approximately 40,000 local homes.
Partnership Opportunities
PGP purchases untreated processed wood from forestry operators, sawmills, paper mills, and storm debris within a 100-mile radius.

Renewable
Energy Certificates (RECs)
Renewable Energy Certificates represent the environmental benefits of renewable energy generation. For every megawatt-hour of clean energy we produce, we generate one REC.
PGP generates RECs as part of our clean energy production. RECs are earned as we generate reliable, clean power for Georgia homes and businesses.
