Who We Are
We're one of the best-run biomass facilities in the country, operating at 83-86% capacity at all times with an outstanding safety record. Piedmont Green Power is proud to be part of the Pacolet Milliken family of companies. We sell power directly to Georgia Power under a long-term contract, delivering 55 MW around the clock. We own and maintain the transmission infrastructure all the way to the Georgia Power substation, ensuring reliable delivery to over 40,000 Georgia homes.
We believe in doing business the right way—transparently, sustainably, and with genuine commitment to the people and communities we serve. That means investing in our employees, supporting local industry, operating with environmental integrity, and being good neighbors.
Mission & Values
Piedmont Green Power’s values reflect sustainable energy production, environmental stewardship, safety and operational reliability, community energy support, and strategic growth within the renewable energy sector.

Commitment to Renewable,
Sustainable Energy
Piedmont Green Power ("PGP") operates a 55 MW biomass-fired generating facility that converts wood waste (biomass) into renewable electricity, helping reduce landfill waste and provide clean energy.

Focus on Sustainability and
Environmental Stewardship
The plant uses approximately 600,000 tons of wood waste annually, all biomass feedstock, qualifying it as a source of renewable power under federal and state standards.
Our business aligns with broader sustainability goals of reducing fossil fuel reliance and supporting a cleaner energy mix.

Long-Term Community
and Strategic Partnerships
PGP has a long-term power purchase agreement with Georgia Power, ensuring stable operation and community energy supply.
Since starting operations in Barnesville, Georgia, PGP has invested in the community. They partner with community leaders and organizations to support and strengthen education, enhance quality of life, expand recreation and tourism opportunities, and advance inclusion initiatives throughout the community.

Renewable Energy and
Market Integration
PGP also participates in the renewable energy market by selling renewable energy credits (RECs), supporting broader decarbonization and renewable procurement efforts.

Safety and
Operational Efficiency
PGP Leadership emphasizes safety, sustainability, and operating efficiency as defining strengths for PGP.
Clean Energy, Done Right
Our bubbling bed combustion technology achieves 83-86% efficiency—far exceeding the industry standard of 60-70% which means we use less wood to generate more power in a cleaner manner.
Our system uses 249 tons of sand that "bubbles" with forced air to create optimal combustion. As wood enters the system, the sand scrubs it until wood fibers are completely converted to ash. Just 1.4 tons of wood generates one megawatt of clean power.
As an independent power producer, we operate under state environmental agency oversight. We also generate Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), representing the environmental benefits of our renewable energy production.
